About the workshop
Tadas,
blacksmith
A third-generation smith from the Kėdainiai area. I work alone and by hand, from the first sketch to the last bolt on site.
“My grandfather used to say: iron remembers every blow. So not one of them should be careless.”
I first picked up a hammer at twelve, in my grandfather’s forge. He made horseshoes, gate hinges and candlesticks for the neighbours, while I worked the bellows and watched.
Today I have my own workshop, but his anvil still stands in the corner. I forge gates, railings, lights and furniture for homes, farmsteads, churches and restaurants.
I love old Lithuanian ornament: ears of rye, oak leaves, sun wheels. But I draw them with clean lines, so they suit a modern house too.
